Step into the wild and discover nature’s hidden pantry with Felicity Joy of Homegrown Botanica at EcoFest Auckland! This inspiring talk will open your eyes to the abundance of edible wild plants growing right under your nose—right in the heart of the city.
Join us for an engaging two-hour session where we’ll unlock the secrets of foraging, connecting with the land, and turning humble "weeds" into delicious, nourishing food. You’ll gain confidence in identifying common edible plants, learn their botanical names, and understand their medicinal and nutritional benefits. We’ll also explore ethical foraging practices, how to spot toxic lookalikes, and share simple, practical ways to incorporate wild foods into your daily meals.
This isn’t just about food—it’s about sustainability, resilience, and reconnecting with the environment in a meaningful way. You'll leave with a deeper appreciation for the land, new skills to support local food security, and the knowledge to make your own simple meals from wild ingredients.
To start things off, we’ll sip on a cup of herbal tea, and to wrap it up, you’ll get to taste a wildly delicious snack made from seasonally foraged ingredients.
Come along, get inspired, and let’s celebrate the bounty of nature together!

Foraging workshop
Amazing! Throughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot that I am now using :)

Foraging fun
Relaxed, fun, informative session, what a pity I've been throwing away so many tasty nutritious 'weeds' that we could've been eating! Looking forward to saving some money and finding our own free food! Thank you!

Enjoyable and informative
Nice way to spend a few hours. Went straight home and picked some weeds from the garden to share with my family! Felicity is very knowledgeable and explained things well. Has given me confidence to forage myself Thanks!

Fascinating workshop
Really enjoyed this workshop which I attended with my son. Felicity was very friendly and organised, taking us through some common plants that were very edible. I knew about some already but learnt a lot more about them. Felicity had prepared a couple of teas, salads, butters, a pickle and a spread. It was great fun to try these, some of which were really delicious. I am new to foraging, but think that people who already have some knowledge would also enjoy it.

Loved it, thank you!
What a fabulous foraging workshop, i found it informative and gained good knowledge to get out in nature to confidently add lovely wild ingredients to my meals. Very inspiring, thank you!
