Batik Kimono - Java - Dark with sleeve detailing
Whilst travelling Java I sourced only 3 batik kimono. This is one of the 3 and different from the other two in it's shape, with a rounded cut at the bottom. This piece also has distinct and gorgeous detailing on the sleeves.
Batik is a unique form of art that originated in Java Indonesia and is still practiced today. Batik involves applying hot wax to fabric to create a resist pattern before the fabric is dyed. Multiple layers of wax can be applied to create multiple colors. Once dyeing is complete the wax is boiled off the fabric revealing the resist pattern underneath.
